The MIL 901 is designed to meet the high shock requirements of MIL-S-901. Like other compact tubeaxial fans, it is equipped with an aerodynamic venturi configured case. Utilizing the unique Rotron inverted bearing system construction the axial length of the fan is limited to the minimum measurement required by the highly efficient propeller, with no further space sacrificed for the AC induction drive motor. The venturi case is cast aluminum. The propeller is molded Ultem 2300 plastic. Utilizing Rotron's unique inverted bearing system, the propeller's stainless steel shaft runs on two high-precision (ABEC 3), double-shielded, stainless steel ball bearings with an integral lubricant reservoir to give longer maintenance-free life. Contact AMETEK Rotron for specific ratings. Rotron rates life expectancy in hours L10 or MTBF at a given ambient temperature. This is the time at which 90%, for L10, and 50%, for MTBF, of an available test lot are still operating.
